Chorale for a Cause: A singalong fundraiser with the Low Bar Chorale, benefiting the Oregon Justice Resource Center and Project POOCH, in partnership with Willamette Week’s Give!Guide
Participating Nonprofits
Oregon Justice Resource Center (OJRC)Project POOCH
Join us to experience the joy of music and build community while raising money for two local nonprofits, the Oregon Justice Resource Center (OJRC) and Project POOCH.
The Low Bar Chorale will be hosting this group singing experience where anyone can join in—no prior musical or singing experience required. Just show up with your love of music and an open mind and prepare to have a blast. They perform with a live band, singing pop, rock, and alt indie songs with great harmonies from the mid-seventies to today, including the occasional anthemic fist-pumping power ballad. During the show, the lyrics are projected on a screen so people can follow along and join in.
The Oregon Justice Resource Center (OJRC) is a nonprofit whose mission is to frustrate and dismantle mass incarceration and systemic discrimination in the criminal legal system by promoting civil rights and improving legal representation for historically underserved communities. OJRC's programs include the Oregon Innocence Project, the Immigrant Rights Project, the Women's Justice Project, the Civil Rights Project, and the Youth Justice Project.
Project POOCH provides life-changing opportunities for incarcerated youth and shelter dogs by operating a kennel inside Maclaren Youth Correctional Facility. Youth learn basic dog training, shelter management, and job skills, and the dogs get adopted into their forever homes. The youth and dogs learn, grow, and change together.
Both organizations are featured in Willamette Week’s Give!Guide, a year-end fundraising campaign that runs from November 1-December 31 to raise awareness and encourage support of local nonprofits.
Chorale for a Cause will be a night to remember!
