APANO Communities United Fund

Mission
APANO unites Asians and Pacific Islanders to build power, develop leaders, and advance equity through organizing, advocacy, community development, and cultural work.
Bottom Line for Portland
While our Asian and Pacific Islander communities have made generations of contributions to American society, our shared history is that of persistent discrimination and inequities. Now Oregon’s fastest growing demographic, we are a community of contrasts, with some communities doing very well, and some communities facing significant opportunity gaps, particularly in education, health and economic prosperity. We envision a just world where Asians and Pacific Islanders and communities who share our aspirations and struggles have the power, resources, and voice to determine our own futures, and where we work in solidarity to drive political, social, economic, and cultural change.
Quote
"I think leadership is when things happen. I feel like people actually trust me so I try to do what I can do for the community. For long term work people are impressed in the community, because I work with APANO they trust me and trust APANO." Wanna Lei, APANO Chinese Community Organizer
