Bird Alliance of Oregon

Mission

To inspire all people to love and protect birds, wildlife, and the natural environment upon which life depends.

Bottom Line for Portland

By making a gift to Bird Alliance of Oregon, you will be building climate resiliency for Oregon’s wildlife, wild places, and people in Portland and throughout the state. You will provide more than 4,000 injured and orphaned birds and other wildlife a second chance at life. You will be supporting more than 5,000 youth and 4,000 adults to expand their connection to the natural world by exploring nature, learning about natural history, and building community.

Quote

"There are many reasons I love the work of the Bird Alliance of Oregon. The Wildlife Care Center is dear to my heart. Their staff of veterinarians and volunteers saved the life and nurtured a spotted owl I rescued from a roadside in 1997.  The education department is top notch and provides a great variety of classes and camps for youth and adults. The work of the conservation staff throughout all parts of our state is unparalleled. The sanctuary is a gem and the nature store is a great source for bird lovers and nutty birders like myself." - Pat Campbell, Elk Cove Vineyards

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The conservation movement has a long history of excluding, ignoring, and minimizing people of color in the fight for the environment. Bird Alliance of Oregon recognizes that silence makes one complicit in systemic racism. That means we are committed to doing more to speak out against injustice within our own organization and beyond, to work with our Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) partners to do things differently, to center the voices of BIPOC people, and to create lasting, equitable change.

Partner(s)

Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon is a longtime partner of the Bird Alliance of Oregon through the Cat Safe at Home Campaign and now partners in this year's Give!Guide. Predation by cats is estimated to be one of the top causes of bird mortality nationwide, and is the number one cause of intake of injured and orphaned animals at our Wildlife Care Center. We work together to find solutions that are good for bird and good for cats and are grateful for the unique partnership.
