Brown Hope is planting and nurturing seeds for racial justice. We uplift, connect, and celebrate Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities to inspire our collective healing. Since 2018, we have cultivated an ecosystem of community healing programs like Black Resilience Fund, Power Hour, Solidarity Squad, and more– working with neighbors of all backgrounds to inspire the racial healing we all need and deserve.
Bottom Line for Portland
In the past year, Brown Hope has organized to ensure that communities disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and systemic racism have the opportunity for a more resilient future. We have responded to urgent community needs and served 4,000 Black, Brown, and Indigenous Portlanders through mutual aid, direct assistance, peer support, advocacy, and more. Our wild dream is that the seeds we plant will flourish into the fruits of justice, healing, and love– for every person, every community, and the entire world.
"Just having someone be considerate that Black people are out here, for someone to acknowledge us really warms my heart. I can righteously feel a togetherness in participating in receiving this help from the Black Resilience Fund. With the greatest sincerity I thank you."
–Wansford, Black Resilience Fund recipient
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Brown Hope recognizes that in our abundant world, there is more than enough for everyone. We inspire others to embrace a philosophy of abundance by centering strengths based practice, positive psychology, and a growth mindset. We leverage the principles of ecology as a powerful tool for social change, promoting the regenerative cycle of nature to transform the harmful, unsustainable systems of the present into a resilient future where everyone thrives.
