Candlelighters For Children With Cancer

Our mission is to provide a community of healing, hope, and light throughout the life-long journey of childhood cancer.

Bottom Line for Portland

Each year, more than 200 local children and their families will hear the life-changing words, “You have cancer.” Kids and families shouldn’t have to face pediatric cancer alone, which is why Candlelighters is here for local families, every step of the way. We provide financial assistance, in-hospital meals, family camp, support groups, scholarships, and family programs and activities for families with childhood cancer, all free of charge. Candlelighters families forge life-long bonds with other families facing the toughest of battles - childhood cancer.

“Connecting families that are in the same situation creates a support system that cannot be found within friendships or even extended families. We are beyond grateful for the assistance, activities and support Candlelighters has provided our family during these tough years.” -Sydney Simpson Wight

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

In our commitment to bring community, hope and light to families facing pediatric cancer, we believe that everyone should have equitable access to our programs and services.  We foster an inclusive and diverse environment in which every Candlelighter family strengthens our community, deepens our knowledge, and supports our mission to serve the entire family facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis in Oregon and SW Washington.

The Hillsboro Hops  are donating four premier tickets to a 2022 game at the fabulous Ron Tonkin Field.  The Hops 2022 schedule begins on April 8, and will include 66 home games, including matchups with an impressive docket of teams including the Vancouver Canadians, Eugene Emeralds, Spokane Indians, Everett AquaSox and Tri-City Dust Devils. All new donors to Candlelighters will be included in a drawing for this ticket package.

Looking for a little adventure? Our friends at Blue Ox Axe Throwing have got you covered.  All donors of $100 or more will be entered into a drawing for a gift card for use in Blue Ox’s Oregon City location.  Guests can either book a one-hour open throw session (recommended for smaller parties of two to 10) or a two-hour social throw window for larger groups. No experience is required, and kids as young as 12 are allowed to toss sharp steel.
