Clackamas Free Clinic
Mission
It is our mission at Clackamas Free Clinic – Volunteers in Medicine to serve the health needs of uninsured, low-income people in Clackamas County by providing free and inclusive medical care through dedicated medical and community volunteers.
Bottom Line for Portland
Increased Access to Essential Care: The Clackamas Free Clinic provides free, volunteer-driven healthcare to individuals who might otherwise go without - addressing critical needs like chronic disease management and prevention. We support underserved members of the community (uninsured, low-income, or those facing barriers to traditional healthcare) ensuring equitable access to care.
Powered by Volunteers & Students: Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers work alongside students to provide compassionate care while building the future of the healthcare workforce.
Community Health Improvement: By offering preventive care and early interventions, the clinic helps reduce emergency room visits and hospitalizations, improving overall health outcomes and preventing unnecessary medical debt.
Quote
“Clackamas Free Clinic is a big help to the community. Before, I didn’t pay attention to my health, but I’ve learned a lot at the clinic... I quit smoking, drink more water, and take things more seriously. I would be dead if I wouldn’t have received help from here. Even though I’ve had insurance off and on over the years, I know I’m always welcome to come back if I need.” - M.B., patient
“The volunteers, staff, and patients have brought so much growth and kindness to me as I navigate this new and exciting step in my life. I can’t stress how impactful this environment has been for me as a new medical student.” – Stephanie K., CCC Medical Assistant Student volunteer
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
At the heart of Volunteers in Medicine is the Culture of Caring. We hope we can begin healing some of the injuries and health disparities caused by bias, prejudice, inequitable treatment, poverty, discrimination, and indifference. Clackamas Free Clinic does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, documentation status, gender, sexual orientation, gender identification or expression, ability, or political philosophy.
