NAMI Clackamas

Mission

NAMI CLACKAMAS is the grassroots non-profit organization providing free mental health education, support, and advocacy delivered by people with lived experience to improve quality of life for everyone in our community.

Bottom Line for Portland

Peer support for mental health is essential to recovery for both the individual and those who support them. Every year, NAMI Clackamas serves as the bridge between the crisis and access to critical services and supports through peer support specialists who have ‘been there’. All programs and services are totally barrier-free – no diagnosis, no referral, no insurance, no cost, no judgement.

Quote

“I reached out to NAMI for help and they spoke with me over the phone and they invited me in that very same day - they wanted to help me! I had hope for the first time in a LONG time. I couldn't think a straight thought and they provided me with the tools and I am forever grateful! I could not be happier - I feel worthy and valued by the staff at NAMI Clackamas - thank you!”

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Stigma and the resulting discrimination tragically affects those with mental health conditions resulting in houselessness, hopelessness, and often suicide, especially in marginalized and vulnerable populations. NAMI Clackamas provides barrier-free education classes, support groups, and 1:1 peer support & advocacy for anyone impacted by a mental health condition including specific services for the Latinx, Women-only, and LGBTQIA2S+ populations.
