Community Cycling Center

Mission

Our mission is to broaden access to bicycling and its benefits.

Our vision is to help build a vibrant community where people of all backgrounds use bicycles to stay healthy and connected. We believe all Portlanders, regardless of income or background, should have the opportunity to experience the joy, freedom, and health benefits of bicycling.

Bottom Line for Portland

The Community Cycling Center’s Give!Guide campaign is being used to SAVE our beloved organization.

Despite having just celebrated our 30th anniversary of spreading the joy of bicycles, we are in the midst of critical financial insecurity. The Community Cycling Center is at risk of closing its doors come 2025.

In total, the Community Cycling Center needs to raise $170,000 by January 2025. Give!Guide will be an opportunity to raise $35,000 towards that goal. That’s why we invite you to consider making a donation of any size to fund an organization that offers a wide range of programs aimed at improving the lives of Portlanders through equitable access to affordable transportation and healthy activity.

Some of our current offerings include: A DIY workshop which offers used bicycles as well as discounts for low-income customers; free repair services at our Bicycle Repair Hub in the New Columbia neighborhood; support for community groups that advocate for bicycle-related improvements in their neighborhoods; Community and Holiday Bike Drives; and a variety of youth bike safety programs, including after-school Bike Clubs, summer Bike Camps, and bicycle mechanics classes in alternative high schools and so much more.

Quote

“The bike is a vehicle of transportation, but we are also trying to bond communities, regardless of your background of where you come from or your financial situation, that is what the Community Cycling Center is about.”--Natty Pillias, Community Cycling Center Safe Routes to School Coordinator

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment in every facet of our work. We value diversity, collaboration, and respect for all people and ideas that contribute to a healthy, connected community. We recognize that there is societal injustice, so we strive to promote equity through constructive dialogue, organizational reflection, and effective, meaningful action.
