Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership
Mission
Our mission is to restore and care for the waters and ecosystems of the lower Columbia River, for current and future generations of fish, wildlife, and people.
Bottom Line
The Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership makes real improvements to the Columbia River and its tributaries: restoring rivers, wetlands, and floodplains to provide critical habitat for endangered salmon, lamprey, and other wildlife; leading stormwater retrofit projects that clean polluted runoff before it enters our streams to improve water quality; and planting thousands of streamside trees and shrubs with volunteers and students each year to cool water and enhance habitat for native species. Our Environmental Education Programs build the next generation of river stewards by partnering with Title 1 and other underserved schools to engage students with hands-on, watershed-focused environmental science classroom lessons and field trips to nearby natural areas where they put their lessons into practice, paddle our Big Canoes, and see how their actions make a difference.
Quote
"My students LOVED being outdoors. I do not think many of them get the experience to be outside in nature very often. When they go outside it’s usually in their apartment parking lots. They loved seeing all the birds!" - 4th grade teacher
