Mission

The Fair Housing Council of Oregon (FHCO) is a statewide civil rights organization whose mission is to eliminate illegal housing discrimination and ensure equal access to housing choice through education and enforcement of fair housing law.

Bottom Line

Fair Housing Council of Oregon directly advocates on behalf of Portland metro renters and homebuyers facing housing discrimination, and educates our community on their housing rights. Together, this work prevents illegal evictions and wrongful denials of housing, and helps people gain access to the accommodations they need to get into, or stay in, safe and stable housing. Roughly half of our 1,240 enforcement intakes and a third of our 494 education and outreach activities take place right here in the Portland metro area. Knowing your rights is power, and that power keeps people housed.

Quote

“Mario from Fair Housing Council helped get my family accepted to a property that denied my application to be able to rent. Mario worked expeditiously to have the decision overturned!! Also, I have referred my sister to Fair Housing Council needless to say they helped her with her situation as well! Thank you for standing by our side during such a difficult time 🙏🏾”
