Recreation is a simple answer to complex problems. When we activate our public spaces with accessible art, dance, sports, music and opportunities to gather and connect, we have an immediate and positive impact on public health, community safety, youth resiliency and social and civic connection. Sellwood Commuity House and its newly-activated “Shack" in Sellwood Park offer a vision for what is possible and necessary in Portland’s neighborhoods, citywide.
