Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington

Mission

Girl Scouts builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Bottom Line for Portland

Since 1926, Girl Scouts of Oregon & SW Washington has engaged K-12th grade girls in age-progressive activities, enabling them to discover their values, skills, and the world around them; connect with others in an inclusive environment; and take action to make a difference in their world

Girl Scouts tackles academic, health, and career gender disparities through our four program pillars: Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM); Outdoors, Entrepreneurship, and Life Skills.

According to Portland State University’s Center for Women’s Leadership, there is an average of only 15% women in leadership positions across all sectors. Girl Scouts don’t need to grow up to start leading. They’re impacting our communities right now, and with your gift, we can include more girls in that experience.

Quote

Seeing my daughter navigate friendships with the help of Girl Scouts has made me a believer in the organization. She has led activities with the help of an adult, volunteered in her community, and has discovered her entrepreneurial spirit! When things get tough socially, as is common at this age, she has the tools to work it out and make everyone feel included. I wish I had been a Girl Scout!
