Mission

Our mission is to improve the health and survival of the most vulnerable infants in the communities we serve.

Bottom Line

NWMMB has been serving premature and medically complex infants in our community for thirteen years. These high-risk babies deserve all the support possible for a healthy outcome, including life-saving donor milk. We believe that parents who can’t breastfeed deserve fair and equitable access to safe, appropriate nutrition for their children. When you donate to NWMMB through Give!Guide, you join our mission to increase access to donor milk for babies who need it to survive and thrive.

After Hayley gave birth, she was hospitalized for preeclampsia and her baby spent two days in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). He received donor milk from NWMMB, and even though they were separated, Hayley was relieved that her baby was given the best possible start in life. Immediately, she knew she wanted to pay it forward with her own milk if she could. On top of processing the trauma of her family’s NICU experience, her lactation journey proved to be challenging—but donating milk was a way for her to salvage something positive from her struggles.

Thinking back on her time as a donor milk recipient and then as a milk donor herself, Hayley says: “I remember opening donor milk bottles and feeling overwhelmingly touched thinking about the heroic mystery mom who was nourishing my newborn. It is so meaningful and healing to be one of them now! … For those of us lucky enough to have healthy babies, it is so special that we can help less fortunate babies and families in this irreplaceable way.”
