Operation Nightwatch - Portland
Mission
Operation Nightwatch provides evening hospitality for Portland’s unhoused population to promote community, dignity, and social connection.
Bottom Line for Portland
If you didn't have a roof over your head, where would you go?
Where could you go to feel some semblance of dignity and safety?
With radical hospitality, we welcome our unhoused neighbors to our Downtown Hospitality Center every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening, when human connection is hard to come by and most services are closed.
It's a simple idea. We believe that treating people with care and respect matters. Every person deserves to feel wanted and safe.
Quote
"Practicing Radical hospitality is seeing every person as an individual who is worthy of respect and honoring them as an equal" -Grace Rodriguez
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Portland's street people, our guests, are as diverse as the city itself, with high representation from people who are among racial minorities and who identify as LGBTQ+. We welcome everyone as they are, without judgment.
The radical hospitality we practice at Operation Nightwatch is inherently anti-oppressive, as we strive to treat some of the most marginalized members of our society with dignity and care. Additionally, we make decisions using an equity lens, and constantly strive to become more diverse and consistently inclusive.
