Pacific Refugee Support Group

BIPOC-Led Organization

Mission

To re-empower refugees through social support and education. We help our community members navigate a path to a successful life in the US.

Bottom Line for Portland

Government-contracted resettlement agencies receive funding to support refugees for a limited time. These services are centered on initial needs, last as few as 3-6 months, and are often insufficient to support a successful transition to a new home. PRSG picks up where these agencies leave off by fostering true self-sufficiency with programs centered on economic mobility, education, social capital, and community re-empowerment.

Quote

“My name is Tetiana and I’m from Ukraine. I moved to the USA because of the war in my country. I’m so thankful to PRSG for help and support. It was so helpful when they helped to make appointments with the right people from the college and to apply for the scholarship! My life here started to look like a real life only because of help and support from organizations like PRSG.”

— Tetiana, PRSG community member

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

PRSG is entirely a part of the community in which we work. A majority of our Board and staff members have lived experience as refugees or asylum seekers ourselves and thus personally understand the situation of our newest community members. We are dedicated to helping all refugee families settle into their new homes with ease and comfort, welcoming them with open arms as members of our family.
