“To enhance social and environmental resilience by growing locally adapted seeds, distributing them to low-income and BIPOC communities, and empowering people to grow and save seeds of their own.”

Rhythm Seed Farm is the largest organization dedicated to seed saving and seed sovereignty in the Portland Metro. 

Since our founding in 2021, we have grown over 10 million locally-adapted seeds at our regenerative urban farm, and donated 15,000 seed packets to historically marginalized communities across the Portland Metro. This represents enough seed to grow over 450,000lbs of food, medicine, and flowers! 

We grow seeds to build community resilience, for disaster preparedness, for collective empowerment, for climate justice, for social equity, and because gardening is a healing act. Our work as an organization is securing the human right to have access to seeds, honoring the work of countless ancestors from around the globe. We educate about seed saving and teach workshops and classes to students and people of all ages. Our apprenticeship program is educating the next generation of seed growers with in-depth knowledge and experience. We envision a future where everyone has access to seed and it is shared freely in the community, creating abundance and opportunity for all.

Your donations support the growth of our organization and allow us to hire staff to increase our ability to do awesome things! We have so many powerful projects that we would love to get started on, but we don’t have the capacity with our current staff.
