Respond to Racism

Mission
Our Mission is to educate and empower Clackamas County residents and institutions with the tools to combat racism in all its forms and make Clackamas County — and Oregon — a better place to live for residents of all races and ethnicities.
Bottom Line for Portland
Despite progress in many areas, racism persists in Clackamas County and Oregon, manifesting in various forms such as systemic discrimination, implicit bias, and racial disparities in opportunities and outcomes. This perpetuates a cycle of inequality, marginalization, and injustice that undermines the well-being and cohesion of the community. Respond to Racism believes that addressing racism requires a multi-faceted approach that encompasses education, advocacy, community engagement, and institutional change.
Quote
"Respond to Racism has been my lifeboat amid a sea of microaggressions, racism, and discrimination hell bent on drowning me. This organization has become my community. It surrounded me with role models and dedicated community members who are working to create change." - Chase Merrill (Lakeridge High School Class of 2025)
