Taking Ownership PDX

BIPOC-Led Organization

Mission

Taking Ownership PDX is a nonprofit organization working to renovate and revive homes and businesses for Black families in Portland. Our mission is to help Black homeowners and small businesses stay in their communities, maintain the health and safety of their homes, and build generational wealth.

Bottom Line for Portland

Portland has a history of racist and predatory real estate and banking practices that have targeted and displaced thousands of Black home and business owners since Black people were allowed to live in the state.  It seems it is up to our grassroots community to provide equity and justice to the Black community of Portland by raising funds, providing physical labor, and sharing resources to combat the consequences of the economic exclusion and social oppression this community has suffered.
