Mission

Taking Ownership PDX is a Black-led, reparations-based nonprofit dedicated to preserving Black homeownership, preventing displacement, and building generational wealth. Through critical home repairs, community-driven improvements, and small business support, we help Black Portlanders remain rooted in the communities they helped build.

Bottom Line

For generations, Black families in Portland have fought to hold onto their homes, but rising costs and urgent repairs continue to put that legacy at risk. Through our Home Preservation and Emergent Needs Programs, Taking Ownership PDX provides critical home repairs at no cost to qualifying Black homeowners, prioritizing elders, people with disabilities, and families most at risk of displacement. Your donation does more than fix a house. It helps protect Black homeownership, preserve family wealth, and keep generations rooted in the communities they helped build.
