Trash for Peace

Mission
The mission of Trash for Peace is to provide hands-on, creative experiences to encourage resilient communities.
Bottom Line for Portland
Our programs reach over 700 youth each year across 10 affordable housing sites, providing free camps, school supplies, and creative learning opportunities that strengthen community and confidence. We also deliver hands-on recycling education to more than 1,800 families, keeping usable materials out of the waste stream and helping residents build sustainable habits together. In total, helping around 20,000 individuals yearly!
Quote
"First I was an environmental promoter and then I was hired. It has meant a lot to me. For me it has meant a lot as a woman here. I am a survivor of domestic violence and it has helped me a lot to be able to function and earn money- apart from learning a lot. Learning about caring for the planet and the power for our information to reach different places and people who need it."
